A New Metaphor

Hayek: doubts that there can be social justice; people act out of self-interest forming clans based on exchanges (Agency)

Dawkins: neo-darwinist; people act like genes bonding out of self-interest

Neoliberals: market determines value based on self-interested exchange not on ethos.

Article: Teachers Advised to 'Get Real' on Race (D. Viadero)

Teacher attempts to balance work groups by race are not always met well by African-American students (Rubin).

Thought: Hispanic students attend ESL classes. Besides helping students learn English, ESL classes also provide a comfortable area and time for Hispanic students to get together and 'retrieve' their cultural identity.

Is there a way, African-American students could be afforded such an opportunity?
