20 Weeks Later...Checking In
it has been 20 weeks since Joe died, seems like 20 minutes...seems like 20 years. Words cannot thank you all enough for your support and love. We have finished the traveling "Joe show," in that there will be no more memorials in public. We had an amazing time in San Diego with beloved friends and colleagues and will post that celebration in the next week or so.
I would be remiss in not letting you know how much David Smith (our webmaster/technical manager), and Lindsay Cornish (our Freire Project Manager) have done in supporting and maintaining the site and the office. Along with Giuliana Cucinelli and Nicole Fiore we still have an up and running project. We are also thankful for the donations to The Friends of Joe Kincheloe, a new fund (tax receipted) which will hopefully sustain the site and project after the funding runs out.
David will post a form on the site if you are interested in donating. You can email Lindsay at lindsay.cornish@mcgill.ca to inquire about donations.
We are gearing up for a small conference in Granada, Spain in September...a unique critical conference with no ego (no keynote speakers), if you are interested, please email us at spainfreire09@gmail.com for information. Each person will be asked to prepare a postion statement, and considered a plenary speaker.
Please keep on blogging, let's try to get our mojo going again and keep Joe's spirit and work alive and well.
Critically yours, Shirley
