I saw the outrage on everyone's Facebook posts after Kris won. Someone noted: well, the red states won.  Another comment on the Sprinkle journal page was from a straight woman who admitted to pining over Adam and how straight men are losing out by being blinded by their own homophobia.  Its so true- why can't we just admit that desire is desire, sexy is sexy, talent is TALENT?!  But queer sex is too dangerous and the hint of it through guy-liner and theatricality is enough to lose the popular vote.  Because that's all it is--- its not truly a talent contest, but a popularity contest.  Who is most palatable to the most people willing to pick up the phone and dial and dial and dial? Personally, I'm grateful that Adam didn't win.  Maybe this means he won't be ground down by the Idol machine and will get a chance to let his individuality and personality shine.  The winner of Idol is whoever connects best with those most likely pick up the phone and compulsively hit redial.  So, those who are idle get someone else's Idol.  It just speaks to the demographics of the show, I guess.  I'm just thrilled Adam got to reach the millions he did over the length of this show and beyond. Adam: Rock on with your bad self!!
