What truthtelling looks and sounds like: Dr. Julia Hare

In the neo-liberal era, truth-telling is becoming a rare commodity. However, there are some people who are out there on the frontlines and telling the truth. Truth-telling is a form of public discourse that seeks to expose inequality in society and between individuals and groups. At the heart of truth-telling is passion, intellect, and no worries about hurting feelings. In other words, there is no room for political correctness. See this video for how Dr. Hare lives in the truth-telling legacy.

Are young Black women the new endangered species?

After listening to and reading the latest news media, one must ask sooner or later, if young Black women are the new endangered species. Compared to other women living in the U.S., African American women are more likely to be victims of domestic violence and homicide at the hands of a partner or ex-partner; more likely to be imprisoned for drug use or abuse/trafficking (instead of receiving treatment); are more likely to be victims of sexual assault and rape at the hands of African American males or White males; Black girls are more likely to be suspended and expelled from school; more likely to be victims of sexual harassment in the workplace; and, Black women are more likely to have their children taken out of the home by children and family services. You decide: Are Black women the new endangered species?

Peace,
