New Literacies as a voice for marginalized peoples
Greetings,
I am currently working on a project exploring new litereacies and media as a voice for homeless and working children in non-western countries. I want to look at different projects like cybermohalla in India that utilize technology as a means of making heard the voices of children who might otherwise be thrust aside. I need access to a site that addresses these issues and that is interactive, in the sense that there is a forum or blog option.
If any of you have information concerning other projects similar to what I described, or if you yourself are participating in such a project could you please pass me any information I might need to find more about these projects? Some questions I am curious about are:
Where and what do you teach?
Briefly define critical literacy as it reflects your pedagogy.
What technology do you use in promoting critical literacy with your students, e.g., blogs, wikis, etc.?
How do you use this technology, i.e., examples of assignments?
How do the children gain access to the technology needed to create and distribute multimodal texts?
Which technology is most commonly used by the children?
Thank you in advance for any information you can pass my way.
